Otmar Issing, a founding member of the ECB told newspaper Der Tagesspiegel that the euro was a success, and there is no provision for a country’s exit from the monetary union. Accession is considered irreversible, & eternal. Problems arise when countries accumulate debts and raise wages as if they could still correct them by devaluing them.
