The Thai central bank, took the unprecedented step of banning a fiat baht-pegged stablecoin THT, claiming that it could undermine the Thai public’s confidence in the existing financial system. THT, the brainchild of the South Korean blockchain firm and terra (LUNA) token issuer Terraform Labs is behind a platform for minting different stablecoins for e-commerce that mimic the value of various fiat currencies.
